HOW TO FACE MAJOR LIFE CHALLENGES

HOW TO FACE MAJOR LIFE CHALLENGES

how do I face challenges?6 Reasons Why It Is Important To Face Life’s Challenges:

#1 When you face major challenges in your life, if you are guided by your values, you will feel a sense of meaning and purpose.

You will have the satisfaction of knowing you are doing what is really meaningful to you.

If you shrink from your challenges, choose to give up or stop pursuing what is important to you, then you usually end up feeling worse that when you try and fail.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.” ~ Mark Twain

#2 Even if you think your goal is impossible, you can keep moving towards it.

You don’t even have to absolutely believe you can achieve it – you just have to keep moving towards it.

Sometimes you will reach your goals and sometimes you won’t.

There is no way to know the outcome.

#3 You don’t have to be certain of success to move towards you goals – you just have to take tiny steps.

#4 Moving in a new direction will cause you to feel uncomfortable thoughts, feelings and sensations like self-doubt, worry and fear.

So if you want to go after meaningful and life changing goals, you need to make room for discomfort.

#5 The easiest and most counter-intuitive way to make room for discomfort is to get fully present.

You do this by fully engaging in what ever you are doing.

You can’t stop the difficult feelings and thoughts, but you can stop struggling with them and instead focus on the task at hand.

#6 Making a commitment does not mean at times you don’t give up or stray off track – you are human.

Commitment means that when you do, you just pick yourself up and get back on track.

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” ~ Confucius

YOUR DARING ADVENTURE

It only takes these 5 steps to get going:

Step 1: PICK AN AREA OF YOUR LIFE

Step 2: CLARIFY YOUR VALUES

What personal qualities do you want to build or develop by going after this goal? What do you want to stand for? Type of character you want to build?

Step 3: SET GOALS

Use these values to set goals:

Short-term over the next few days and weeks.
Medium-term over the next few weeks and months.
Long-term over the next several months and years.

Step 4: ACTIONS

Choose a short term goal and figure out the action steps you want to take.

What is the simplest, easiest action you can take right now, today?

Step 5: NOW DO IT

You know what you need to do, so now you need to get moving and do it mindfully…fully engage in what you are doing and unhook from any unhelpful stories that might hold you back.

THE BIG CHOICE

You have two choices on how to live your life:

Choice one: for the rest of your life you ONLY take action on the things that are really important to you if you are “in the mood,” feel motivated or excited.

HOW DO I FACE CHALLENGESYou are hostage to your emotions.

If you feel good, then you do the things that make your life work.

But if you feel bad, then you give up doing what truly matters and put your life on hold until you feel positive and inspired again.

Choice two: for the rest of your life you take action on everything that really matters to you.

You may feel good or bad, energized or lethargic, inspired or uninspired, optimistic or pessimistic, calm or fearful, motivated or not, but you still take action and keep doing what really matters to you.

Which do you choose?

STOP BEING A HOSTAGE TO YOUR EMOTIONS

Instead of being a hostage to your emotions, you act like the person you want to be and do the things you want to do even if you don’t feel like it.

I’m sitting at the kuala Lumpur airport in Malaysia at 12am. Exhausted. Stressed. Doubting why I’m on a nine month adventure alone because everything scares me that I’m doing, but I’ve wanted to do this for a long time. I open my email and start reading this. Absolutely one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. I can’t thank you enough.. this was incredible!
