How To Hire The RIGHT Life Coach
Trying to figure out what to do or where to go next in your life?
Hoping that a life coach can help you figure that out?
Everyone needs a coach. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a basketball player, a tennis player, a gymnast or a businessman. ~Bill Gates
Life coaches, like any good coach, have a gift for bringing out the best in people. It can be by providing encouragement, giving you new strategies and techniques and at times, a dose of tough love.
A successful life coaching relationship really comes down to your personal chemistry with the person and your willingness to participate.
Good chemistry is critical when you first begin the coaching process, when there might be a healthy level of challenge or in some cases, productive tension.
When I coach my clients, I gently, but firmly push them out of their comfort zone and help them examine their motivations and beliefs directly and honestly.
When you’re ready to get clear, change things up for the better and commit to what it takes to have a better life – the sky’s the limit!
Are You Ready For Life Coaching?
Are ready to hear what friends, family, coworkers or even your boss might have been afraid to say – the good, the bad, the ultimate truth?
Are willing to fully participate in making a shift or change right now in your life?
Do you find yourself struggling to “figure it out” or want some unbiased, personal advice?
Do you make the time and effort into putting new strategies and tools into practice on your own?
Have a strong desire to live an easier, happier life and be a better person?
Hiring a life coach is a commitment to your own best life. Life coaches grease the wheels so you can get where your going faster, smarter and with a clear direction.
What To Consider When Choosing YOUR Perfect Life Coach:
Determine The Coach’s Approach
Life Coaches in Seattle all study different types of programs and systems. Some coaches are more holistic or spiritual in nature and others use a more business-like and straightforward approach. Most use a combination of psychology, sociology and mind-body connection.
Look For Chemistry
Chemistry is everything when hiring a Life Coach or professional of any type. Trust and respect should always come first before the price. You will be discussing intimate details about your life.
Look for communication and listening style: does your coach employ a confrontational method?
Perhaps you want a gentler, more nurturing type of coach. Finding the right balance to help you make changes is the key.
Look for their willingness to provide a free consultation, so you have the opportunity to see if your coach is a good match and they can get a better sense of your particular needs. Be as honest and forthcoming as possible to gauge their reaction and see how they respond. The more information you provide, also makes easier to figure out how coaching will help you meet your objectives.
Are you comfortable with the phone or SKYPE? Do you only want to have an in-person session with a coach nearby?
Trust Your Gut
Trusting your hunches is truly the most important thing you need to consider when hiring your new life coach. I have found many of my clients don’t know how to trust their gut instincts, so that is generally where we start. Once you know how to follow your own guidance, decisions become easy!
A coach is someone who can give correction without causing resentment. ~ John Wooden
Key Attributes Of A Good Life Coach:
Have they overcome their own issues?
Do they have an ability to help you think differently?
Do they have the courage to say things that might make you uncomfortable?
Can they energize and inspire you?
Are they non-judgmental and someone you can talk to about anything?
You will know this if you take a little time to get to know them, listen to your gut feelings and most importantly, find out if you can talk to them.
