How Do We Form Limiting Beliefs
This is the time period when we are greatly influenced by the caregivers in our life, which for most people is their parents.
Our minds get programmed with our mother’s and father’s healthy and unhealthy beliefs about themselves.
Unbeknownst to them, they also were programmed by their parents. This is how these negative beliefs pass unintentionally from generation to generation.
Most of us are not conscious of these self-sabotaging beliefs, because they are stored in our unconscious mind.
Our Reality Our Perceptions
Our beliefs are responsible for creating our perceptions and our reality of the world.
For example, you could have the self-sabotaging belief, “Good people are poor and wealthy people are rotten” like one of my clients. It played out in his life as constant money challenges.
A belief that, “Good things only come from struggle” could make you believe you always have to work very hard for everything and block anything comes with effortlessness and ease.
If your mother or father, for whatever reason abandoned you, which could mean dying, it could cause you to believe, “I’m are unlovable.”
If you felt unloveable, most likely you would find yourself in dysfunctional relationships and constantly worrying about being abandoned.
Most of us aren’t even aware of the viral beliefs that run our lives. They operate as unconscious programs without any awareness in the conscious mind.
Only when you uncover those self-sabatoging beliefs, can you do the work to free yourself.
Your Life Is Like A Movie
The script, however, is written from the memories, emotions and painful experiences from our childhood and stored in the unconscious mind.
The script shapes what we believe about ourselves.
So if your unconscious belief is that you are not good enough, then all the setbacks that inevitably show up in life will prove to you, you are not good enough.
Our unconscious mind overrides any conscious efforts or affirmations people try to use to tell themselves they are worthy and enough.
But here’s the good news. You are not a helpless victim of your programs.
